Following this visit, Mr. Williams has been admitted to the local cottage hospital suffering from dehydration and malnutrition. His body is in poor condition and he has infected feet. He also appears to be exhibiting early signs of Dementia. Mr. Williams was not happy about being admitted to the hospital and, for the first couple of days, refused to speak to staff or to co-operate with them when they were trying to give personal care. He has not eaten very much and seems quite disinterested. He has, however, started to talk to one of the daytime nurses whom he seems to trust. A Social Worker is also visiting Mr. Williams. She is trying to make an assessment about whether it is safe for him to return home, or whether he needs to go into care.
