1. Background and statement of the problem (about 1000 words) 2. Research question or hypothesis, aim and objectives (about 300 words) This section should provide a brief descriiption of the methods used to contact the research as well provide some information on the participants of the study. You are not expected to provide a detailed descriiption of the methods. Also, this section could potentially change at a later stage of your doctoral studies and after studying in depth qualitative and quantitative research methodology. You are expected to show that you have thought of how the proposed research could be implemented. e.g. This research will involve both qualitative and quantitative data collection since both interviews and questionnaires will be administered to the participants. This section is part of the methodology and refers only to the participants of the study. Anyone who is going to take part in a questionnaire or an interview apart from the researcher is considered a participant. A descriiption of the groups involved in the study should be provided here. Information such as the possible number of participants, particular profession, age group etc. that may be relevant to the research should be provided here. e.g. 50 adults between the ages of 25-30 working as teachers at local schools in the area of Larnaka in Cyprus Unicaf University currently does not accept the research involving vulnerable populations or high-risk groups. You are not expected to provide a detailed descriiption of the participants as information related to this issue will be finalized after receiving feedback from your supervisor. This section is part of the methodology and refers only to the methods and materials of the study. A descriiption of the tools (i.e. questionnaires, interviews etc.) used should be provided. e.g. a questionnaire with closed-ended questions will be used along with a focus group and interviews. You are not expected to provide a detailed descriiption of the methods as these will be finalized after receiving feedback from your supervisor. 3. Methodology (about 500 words) 3.1 Participants 3.2 Methods / Materials In this section you can provide information on possible weaknesses and strengths of your study. Strengths usually relate to the contribution of the thesis to already existing knowledge as this is identified in 1. Background and statement of the problem. You are not expected to provide a detailed descriiption of the strengths and weakness as these will be finalized after receiving feedback from your supervisor. The word limit for the research proposal is 2000-2500 words without the reference list, table of contents and title page. All sources cited in the research proposal should be included in the reference list. No text should be copy pasted from other sources unless it is appropriately cited. Use APA referencing style for compiling the reference list. References should be on a separate page. Use at least 15 academic sources related to the research topic. Make sure that all the sources in the reference list are scholarly use scholar.google.com to check your references. The reference list should include recent publications (at least 6 years).
