Writing Task: Scripted Promo for your WWW Wrestler
Other than the in-ring action, the most important part of Professional Wrestling– the glue, so to speak– and the thing that sustains the narrative is what is called a “promo.” These are either in-ring moments where a wrestler speaks to the audience or can alternately be filmed anywhere. If you don’t know wrestling, think of this as a villain’s monologue in a movie. It’s one of those rare moments where the “tell” is more important in some ways than the “show.”
I posted an example here. I wrote it and it’s super cheesy. It’ll give you an idea of the style, though.
