As of the late 1730s, one out of six individuals per colony was a slave. Nevertheless, almost half of the white population owned slaves. Nonetheless, it remains imperative to state that the white men embraced slavery as it offered cheaper labor that had economic significance. Nevertheless, the rich southern families preferred slave labor as a way pf life. This assertion is based on the fact that slaves in the south existed in segregated communities that offered labor to their masters.
