When writing a research paper, the key to its development is a clear understanding of the problem you are trying to solve, that is, the Problem Statement must be unambiguous to you and the reader. You can start by writing that “The problem under consideration is” or words to that effect. It also should be properly scoped, that is, clear boundaries are set in the context of what you are writing. For example, do not state that you are trying to figure out how to expand your entrepreneurial effort into the national market. You might scope it down to expanding into the regional market so that way you have fewer variables or conditions to deal with. The issues and entities can be real or imaginary.
