There have been a couple of questions pertaining to the final interview with your healthcare leader. Please allow me a couple of minutes to review some expectations.
Don’t format your paper in a question/answer format. Don’t merely state the question and immediately follow it with the response. This should be a well-integrated, comprehensive analysis of the leader. Your assessment should include a critique and analysis of issues such as the leadership style being demonstrated, behaviors of successful leaders, motivation tactics, team development and other topics. Use plenty of specific examples to support your position in the analysis of your leader.
DO NOT format your paper as a question and answer paper. I want to see a comprehensive narrative that examines all of the major elements of the assignment. Don’t merely state the question you asked followed by the response.
I want to see a solid analysis of your interview. Make sure that you relate specific examples from your interview back to specific models and constructs discussed throughout the course. For example, it’s not good enough to tell me that the leader is transformational. Describe transformational leadership briefly and then provide specific examples of the 4 behaviors that support your assumptions. The same applies for other constructs such as teams and motivation. Be specific! Explain the models you’re using and link your examples back to the models you’re using.

When you are citing the person you interviewed, don’t use quotes. Paraphrase. Remember that you still need to cite the interviewee, however. You do this using personal communication citations. Here are a couple of examples.
Alejandro Losa, MHA, was interviewed in order to assess and critique his leadership effectiveness and strategies used to be a good leader. Losa (once you introduce the person, just use last names) stated that his preferred leadership style was transformational (A. Losa, personal communication, June 25, 2024). According to Losa (personal communication, June 25, 2024), leaders should use developmental approaches to grow and nurture followers.
When you cite your interviewee in your assignment this week, make sure you are using appropriate APA citations including personal communication citations. Examples of what personal communication citations look like are included in the submission instructions.

I always like seeing personal communication citations in students’ papers. I think they add strength and credibility to your work. Personal communication citations are the ONLY citations that are NOT included in the references section.
You will interview a senior leader in your organization. The interviewee must be at the Director (or equivalent) or above level in the organization. Try to book 60 minutes for the interview, but if the timeframe needs to be increased or decreased, do so at the interviewee’s discretion.
Below are a number of interview questions, but you are encouraged to ask additional, pertinent, and context-specific questions depending on the nature of your organization.
-What is his/her definition of leadership? Based on what you’ve learned, what leadership styles are reflected in your leader’s definition? – talk about transfoamrtional leadership
-What is the interviewee’s role as a leader? Operations manager/oversees every department in a hand and upper extremity practice. How do you know if he/she is an effective leader? What metrics are used to measure his/her performance? What leadership BEHAVIORS does a healthcare administrator need to possess? These are NOT traits!
-How does the leader motivate employees? What tactics or models are used? Is the leader getting appropriate results? Like what?
-How does the leader lead TEAMS? Weekle huddles form part of leading in teams. Is the same style of leadership used? yes. Are the teams in the performing stage or in a previous stage? Norming stage: During the third phase, the group develops cohesion. Group members accept each other’s idiosyncrasies and express personal opinions. Roles and norms are established (Bonebright, 2010).

The focus of this project is the analysis of the interview from an academic perspective. DO NOT format your paper in a question/answer format. This assignment should be a comprehensive narrative of the leadership constructs discussed in the course and exhibited by the leader. You should analyze the interview with regard to leadership theories and models, motivational models and team engagement demonstrated by the leader. Integrate supporting research to substantiate your assumptions!

Maximum of 10 pages, not including title page, references or appendices. APA format required. Use personal communication citations to document where you use content from any conversation or interview. APA personal communication citations are the ONLY citations that are not included in the References section.
Minimum of 5 academic and/or professional references. Use supporting research to integrate, substantiate, critique or compare with the responses from your interview.
