will be considered as late).

How to submit You should submit your assessment electronically via Turnitin on
Blackboard module page.
As the University will mark assessments anonymously where this is
possible, please use your student roll number and not your name on
your submission.

You should continue analysing the airport chosen for the first module
assessment.
Please suggest improvements / find solutions to the existing
problems using examples of other airports in the UK and / or in other
countries to ensure sustainable development. You are encouraged to
consider the following areas of airport operations and planning:
1. Measures to decrease airport noise and emissions.
2. Sustainable airport land use planning.
3. Airport biodiversity preservation and wildlife hazard
management.
4. Sustainable airport ground access.

5. Sustainable passenger / cargo terminal design.
6. Sustainable airport capacity management and operations.
7. Sustainable baggage handling.
8. Sustainable airport safety and security.
9. Airport water and waste management.
10. Aerodrome characteristics to ensure sustainable operations.
11. Sustainable ground support equipment.
12. Sustainable ramp handling operations.
13. Airport extreme weather operations and disruption
management.
14. Airport emergency planning, rescue / firefighting operations and
crisis management.
15. Airport economic and social sustainability.
Intended audience is the top management of the chosen airport.
Using the UN Sustainable Development Goals (Appendix A) please
link every improvement / solution suggested with a particular goal
from the table.
You should also include a paragraph dedicated to reflection on how
formative feedback on your weekly posts on Blackboard discussion
boards impacted the final version of your submitted assignment. Fill
in the Reflective Journal (Appendix B) and highlight in red or green
whether the deadline(-s) have been met.
You should demonstrate extensive reading and use of different
information sources, such as official web sites of regulatory bodies,
professional organisations and associations (e.g., International Civil
Aviation Organisation, International Air Transport Association,
Airport Council International, Civil Aviation Authority, etc.), web sites
of different airports around the world, textbooks, industry related
journals and magazines such as Airport Magazine, Airport World
Magazine, International Airport Review, Passenger Terminal Today,
etc. The list of relevant magazines is available on the module
Blackboard page. Both quality and quantity of the sources used will
be assessed. You should ensure that the most recent regulations,
practices and technologies have been considered.
