Organisational Change: Case Study Assessment Rubric (85%)
Requirement: To analyse a case study and produce a well-articulated and consistent argument with respect to problem identification, analysis and theoretically driven solution specification towards sustainable change
For this assignment what does a pass look like
1.Problem Identification:
Students need to draw on appropriate theoretical tools to analyse the challenges faced in the case. Students need to base their justification on an appropriate application of relevant knowledge and theory outlined in the course
2.Solution specification and design:
Students need to formulate creative and appropriate solutions to the challenges they identified in the first section. They need to explain why they have selected this approach and outline how it might assist the organisation in finding answers to their problems by drawing on appropriate evidence
3.Solution analysis and evaluation
When discussing their approach, students need to display contextual sensitivity, evaluate potential benefits and pitfalls of their chosen approach based on appropriate evidence, and consider how any challenges might be overcome
4.Solution articulation
Students need to be able to present a clear, consistent and well-targeted argument where proposed solutions follow logically from the identification of challenges. They should ultimately be able to communicate effectively how their proposed solutions will help the organisation to produce beneficial and sustainable change.

(PS01) Problem Identification
Demonstrates no or insufficient identification of the challenges the organisation is facing in the case and / or lacks clarity in the statement of the problems identified
Demonstrates sparse, insufficient use of theoretical approaches, literature and/or uses inappropriate or irrelevant sources to assist problem identification
Pays no or insufficient attention to how the context might relate to the challenges identified and the nature of change required in the organisation Identifies one of two challenges that the organisation is facing in the case and provides some statement of the challenges identified
Refers to a theoretical approach, literature and/or other appropriate sources to assist and discuss problem identification.
acknowledges the role of context in framing the challenges identified and the nature of change required
Identifies a few challenges that the organisation is facing in the case and provides a clear statement of the challenges identified
Makes some applied use of theoretical approaches, literature and/or other appropriate sources to assist and discuss problem identification.
Demonstrates some consideration of how the context might relate to the challenges identified and the nature of change required Identifies important challenges that the organisation is facing in the case and provides a clear statement of the challenges identified and areas where they may be connected
Makes good applied use of theoretical approaches, literature and/or other appropriate sources to assist and discuss problem identification.
Directs analysis towards consideration of how the context might relate to the challenges identified and the nature of change required
Identifies multiple challenges in the case, considers how they may be connected, and provides a clear, comprehensive statement of the challenges identified
Makes excellent use of theoretical approaches, literature and/or other appropriate sources to assist and discuss problem identification
Grounds the discussion of the challenges faced by the organisation in the context in which the organisation exists and relates it to the nature of change required
Critique the context for change in different organisations and explain how choices and strategies for change are generated. (MLO2)
Describe the processes involved in implementing change and assess how these might be used to bring about change in different organisational contexts. (MLO3)
The ability to apply a number of strategic approaches to different change situations. (PS03)
Solution specification and design Demonstrates no or insufficient knowledge of the different strategic approaches available to organisation for tackling the challenges identified
Demonstrates no or insufficient evaluation of the specific and contextual conditions faced by the organisation and how these might influence the selection of appropriate change strategies to manage specific problems
Does not devise an appropriate strategy to address the organisations challenges or evaluate any pros and cons of their chosen approach.
