Lyndon had good intentions by declaring war on poverty but failed and made many costly mistakes. Many welfare programs were introduced to fight poverty but Johnsons administration which made continuous changes which were not progressively advantageous because poverty rates kept rising. The administration saw the programs and acts as underfunded and thus introduced more acts (Trattner, 2007, pg 311). The society was also at a crisis when it came to education of young people and the high number of poor people making these reforms difficult to succeed within specified periods.
