程序案例-MEC 6003-Assignment 1

Prof P Myler 2021 MEC 6003 BSc Computer Aided Analysis – 2021 Motor Cover design Exercise – Assignment 1 (LO 1, 25%) Scenario Your clients have provided you with a drawing of a Motor Cover shown at the end of the assignment along with your individual dimensions. They are considering having manufactured for their luxury yacht. The cover houses a motor in the engine room. Acting as the design engineer for the clients you have been tasked with undertaking an FEA study of the cover prior to manufacture. Considerations 1. The client needs to position 4 conditioning sensors and wants you to determine the best position. The sensors must be positioned on the top face and at least 40mm from any edge or bend. The dimensions of the sensors are 15mm square. 2. A 100mm access hole MAY be required in the top of the guard (denoted by A & B on the drawing). The client would like to know how this addition is likely to influence your recommendations. Additional Known Factors i) The motor runs at 3000 rpm ii) The side panels can reach up to 50oC when in operation iii) The material the client would like to use is Aluminium Sheet iv) The sensors are delicate and work at their best when kept as still as possible v) The cover is likely to be positioned in an area where it could be stood on during operation. Student Number: ____________________ MASS without hole: ______________ T = _____________ L=_____________ A=_______________B = _______________ Answer the questions overleaf in the document in BLACK. Do not change the font size or layout or increase the page size. Your completed written answers should not be greater than one page. Adequate space for your answers is provided. You may add 2 pages for your 4 images. UPLOAD YOUR COMPLETED pdf file to TURNITIN. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO VIVA. DEADLINE = 26th March 2021 at 16 55pm Prof P Myler 2021 1).
