Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering : MSc Project Thesis for
2022/23
MSc Thesis Requirements for 2022/23 academic year for the following programmes :
Advanced Microelectronic Systems Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Communication
Networks and Signal Processing, Image and Video Communications and Signal Processing,
Optical Communications and Signal Processing, Optoelectronic and Quantum Technologies,
Wireless Communications and Signal Processing
The thesis length is required to be a minimum of 20 A4 pages and maximum length of 30 A4
pages. You must use 11 point font, 2cm margins and 1.2 line spacing.
The thesis can contain up to 2 pages of background literature review material.
Students are encouraged to update and re-write their literature review section based on their
Research Review Report (RRR) from the Engineering Research Skills unit, having now
completed the project
When using their RRR, students must follow University of Bristol regulations [1] on :
(a) Plagiarism – treat the RRR as you would any other piece of literature: re-used sentences
must be in quotes “” and correctly referenced, and any ideas, concepts, or figures must be
explicitly referenced.
(b) Re-use of previously assessed material (Section 4.1-4.3 of regulations)
Any re-used material will not contribute to the thesis mark since it has already been used in
the RRR
