Description / Requirements
The purpose of this task is to provide you with the opportunity to apply theoretical concepts covered
throughout the BCom Management major to a current business case and simulation activity. This
task also gives you the opportunity to identify and appraise ethical, cross-cultural and managerial
issues likely to be experienced in contemporary work.
There are two components to Assessment 1, a Group Business Report and an Individual Simulation.
Group Business Report (3500 words, 35%):
This assessment is based on the business case which will be provided to all students in Week 1. In
your groups, you will need to prepare a Business Report that details the issues of the case and
provides recommendations for resolving the issues.
In order to complete the Business Report, your group will need to do the following:
1. Identify what the key issues are;
2. Analyse the issues using concepts discussed throughout the Management major;
3. Agree what recommendations to make; and
4. Present all the above in your written report.
Individual Simulation (15%):
Each student is required to participate in and receive an evaluation of their performance in an applied
simulation task. This will be conducted across a 24 hour window during week 6. The content of the task
will be focussed on an area of management covered in MMM308 that students will have had experience
of during their major. Results of the simulation will be released at the same time as students receive
feedback on Assessment 1 Part A.
