Assessment Feedback
You will normally receive feedback on your assessment within 15 working days.
Plagiarism, Collusion or Cheating

Learning Outcomes
This Assessment Block will require you to address the following Learning Outcomes:
Knowledge
1. Understanding of how education impacts upon formal and informal work-based contexts.
2. Knowledge and understanding of the synergies and conflicts between academic life and the
world of work
3. The ability both to absorb fresh understanding and apply knowledge to solve educational
problems in a work-based environment, undertaken both autonomously and as part of a
team.
4. An understanding of Reflective Practice
5. Demonstrate understanding of historical and sociological perspectives of education.
6. Demonstrate an understanding of professional and organisational boundaries, relating these
to different professional cultures, values, working practices, service delivery, legislative
frameworks, and wider social expectations.
Cognitive
1. Critically assess the importance of education and ED&I in the workplace.
2. Reflect on how academic education, skills and abilities apply in a practical context, and how
experience gained on a work-based placement can impact on future career possibilities and
plans.
3. Demonstrate a willingness and ability to articulate and question views about the role of
education in society.
4. Demonstrate the ability to analyse and reflect upon issues of multiple accountability and
complexity.
Skills
1. Demonstrate skills necessary in the workplace, which include: professional behaviour, self
motivation, initiative, problem-solving, negotiation, verbal and written communication,
leadership, time management, prioritisation of tasks and meeting deadlines.
2. Develop good communication and personal relationships with people in a work team and at
all levels within an organisation.
3. Research and IT skills.
4. Communicate a range of views and ideas effectively, offering reasoned arguments supported
by literature and evidence.

Completed copies of BOTH:
Placement Health and Safety Form; and
Placement Risk Analysis
PASS/FAIL
Part 2
TASK:
Drawing on the themes of Equality, Diversity,
Inclusion (ED&I) and Equity discussed across the
placement Study Block (ED1708), Issues and
Perspectives in Education (ED1706), and Education
and Society (ED1705) submit 5 reflective journal
entries based on your work placement experience
(equivalent to 2500 words).
You must also upload a copy of your placement
confirmation letter/ email, confirming completion of
the 72-hour requirement.

You must complete both parts of this
assessment by the deadlines, to pass this
block.

Part 1 of the Assessment Block is due (BEFORE YOU COMMENCE YOUR PLACEMENT)
Tuesday 31st January 2023
Part 2 of the Assessment Block is due: Wednesday 17th May 2023 by 12 noon.
Assessment Criteria
1. Demonstrate an understanding of theories and concepts related to equality, diversity,
inclusion, equity and education and society
2. Demonstrate an ability to apply theories and concepts related to the study of education and
society
3. Demonstrate an ability to critically appraise literature, policy, and debates in the context of
education and society, specifically as they relate to equality, diversity, inclusion, and equity.
4. Communicate views and ideas effectively, offering reasoned arguments supported by
evidence
5. Demonstrate independence, self-motivation, and organisation skills.
6. Work effectively within the set word limit for the assessment task
