Thinking about the books discussion of the poor upbringings of artists like Elvis and Johnny Cash, how do you think this affected their career and their relationships with record labels as they began their career?
Do you think where these artists came from played any roll in the cultural appropriation that heppened in the early stages of their careers? As we saw last week and into this week, many of these early rock n roll artists made hugely succesful covers of songs originally written and performed by Black artists. Is there a connection, why or why not?
