To complete your final paper you must interview an older adult (age 65+) about topics covered in class. Select/chooseone of the following three themes:
1: Social definitions and theories of ageing, aging in place, successful aging, world events (Week 2, 10, & 12)
2: Relationships, social networks, and caregiving in later life, world events (Week 4, 5, & 6)
3: Demographics, policies, and disparities in aging, world events (Week 3, 7, & 11)
Although the above themes can be best explored through the weeks work suggested above, do not feel bound to only find your connections through the work of those weeks. There are likely connections relating to all three themes studied most weeks.
Your assignment should include:
Name of interviewee and relationship to you (e.g., Mark S. My great uncle.)
Minimum of 5-8 topical questions
*Hints:
Questions should be simple and direct.
Do not ask more than one question at a time.
The best questions are the ones that result in long responses from your interviewee. Do not ask questions that can be answered in on word. Do not ask Do you remember ____ Ask, What was it like? How did it impact your life?
Do not ask questions that require your interviewees to do your analysis for you. This is your responsibility as part of this assignment.
Do not ask about how the interviewees cohort might feel about the episode being discussed, ask about how the interviewee felt about the episode.
