Socialization
Socialization is defined as the process or the outcome of learning different aspects of a culture and how to do different things. Therefore it is the process of learning how ones culture values a certain phenomenon. For example, when a person is taught that laughing when another one slips and falls is bad is part of socialization. Therefore socialization teaches behavior and culture to a people. Even though it is never wrong in any instance, there is no learning, which is wrong because all learning happens to a person in their cultural settings; it is not everything that a person inherits are learned. For example, a person may be more merciful to a sick person than others because they have not learned it but have got it maybe from their parents.
It is the people we interact with that socialize us. For example, a kid who is being read bedtime stories, soldiers learning how to do different parts of their work like shooting, etc., therefore, these experiences and things people go through get to make them learn what is expected of them in their lives according to the culture of the people who socialize them. It is a lifelong process, and therefore it means that a person gets learning different things in their lives. The primary socialization happens in the family, for example, brushing teeth, walking, religion, gender socialization, etc.
Other parts of socialization as a person grows are the media one consumes and the groups a person gets into. For example, if a person is in a group that smokes weed, the likelihood of that person smoking weed is very high, and therefore, this is part of the socialization that person gets. All these are referred to as primary socialization as they occur when a person is young, while secondary socialization occurs when a person is older and throughout their lifetime. Another aspect of socialization is the broad and narrow socialisations. Therefore socialization is a very important part of human cultural learning, and it helps a person become what they are expected to become by their cultures.
