The writing requirement will be to identify a specific human development (motivation) that you are interested in and find information from the educational and scientific literature about it. You can choose a development from your own observations, from the course readings or supplemental textbook, or from topics in the popular media. The goal of the assignment will be to find at least five research or theoretical articles about the topic and use them to write an 8- to 12-page paper (typed, double-spaced) presenting what we know about the topic. The paper can either be a summary of what we know or can be an initial step towards specifying how we would support or teach the development.
