Write an essay in which you describe and analyze an element of tattoo culture. Talk about the hsitory of how tattoos became mainstream. This paper should involve research beyond the materials provided in the course. Additionally, you are to write a reflection on the research and writing process in which you explain your process, consider its efficacy, speak to issues of finding credible sources, and share any insights that you gained about yourself or your processes.
This paper is designed to allow you the opportunity to more deeply explore an aspect of tattoo that interests you. Possible explorations could include, but are not limited to, comparing the role of tattoo in two cultures, comparing the role of tattoo in the same culture across time or geography, evaluating the impact of tattoo on a single culture in multiple facets of the human condition, analyzing how a particular style of tattoo is used to communicate identity broadly or within specific contexts, etc.
This assignment is intentionally broad to allow you the opportunity to develop an argument of your own, so this will allow you to work on selecting and narrowing a focus, researching that topic, establishing a claim, and supporting that claim with evidence.
