Unfolding Case Study with Questions Assignment Topic: Unfolding Case Study with Questions related to lecture topics and real-life clinical situations students may encounter during their undergraduate program. Assignment Rationale: Unfolding case studies have been shown to enhance students critical thinking abilities and increase overall assessment performance (Englund, 2020). Students are encouraged to develop higher cognitive abilities to reason, analyze, and draw conclusions from patient presentations and data. This assignment will introduce students to Next Generation Nursing (NGN) style questions based on the clinical judgment model and continue incorporating the nursing process with each element of the unfolding case study. Students are expected to demonstrate individual knowledge of content throughout the term, identify key elements of assessment, provide analysis of data, in order to strengthen critical thinking, and anticipate patient changes and nursing interventions. Assignment Format: NCLEX- style Questions, multiple-choice, multiple responses, fill-in-the-blank, ordered response and/or hot spots with questions related to blooms taxonomy, introduction to NGN-style nursing questions, and clinical judgment model for developing and strengthening critical thinking abilities in class and to apply during clinical situations.
