Unit 3 Lab Assignment Personality (expanded to a Research Paper 20%)
Part 1 The study of personality asks:·
How do we explain peoples consistent way of thinking, feeling and behaving?·
What accounts for differences in personality formation?
Can personality change over time, in reaction to specific events, or by way of
concerted effort?
Directions:
Part 1
1) Read Chapter 10 on personality and consider the above questions.
2) Take the Jung Typology Test found at
http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes1.htm
and read about your personality type (e.g., ENTJ).
3)Run a Google search of credible online sources, in order to learn more about
your type. Also, look to scholarly articles, books and textbooks for
information.
4) Compose a reflection on your personality type that includes answers to the
following questions and identifies in bold at least 10 terms found in the
reading (e.g., trait analysis, personality assessment, Freud, etc.).
For each term, paraphrase its definition and explain how it relates to the study of
personality, personality assessment and/or your personality profile.
What is your type? Clearly define each of the letters/descriptors.
Does this personality type resonate with you and well describe your
personality? Why or why not? Give specific examples from your life.
What are the strengths and limitations of your personality type and how do these impact your past, present and future?
At the bottom of the assessment results page, click on Careers: Best
job fit for . . . . Here you will have a chance to read more about career
fit. How well does your desired career fit those suggested by your type?
What kind of daily life situations and/or events cause you stress? What effect does stress on your overall health and well-being? Knowing your personality type, how do you cope with these stressors in your daily life?
Part 2
Follow the above steps 2 and 4 selecting a friend, family member, colleague to take the
topology test (step 2) and reply to step 4 questions in a face-to face interview where you
record (via notes not taped) their replies. The person participating will remain anonymous with no name used to identify them.
This essay will be at least five (5) pages in length and written in APA-style (i.e., double-spaced, Times New Roman 12-pt font, 1-inch margins, etc.), inclusive of APA-formatted citations and references.
Five (5) outside sources are required, one of which can be the online test site and the others of which can be books, textbooks, scholarly articles, lay
articles and/or credible online sources.
No abstract is needed, but a cover page and reference page are required. Use of the first person is permitted
