This is a final paper PROPOSAL, which means you will write a detailed outline of the final you would write about the subject that I will give. This is being done for the course English and Cultural Studies: Food in Media and Popular Culture, so the emphasis will be on food in media and popular culture rather than public health, although public health is still a large part of it.
Your proposal will be on this subject:
By analyzing Ruth Ozekis My Year of Meats and another material of your choosing that should be in the genre of What I Eat In A Day or Cheat Day youtube videos, write an analytical paper about how food media shapes public perceptions of health.
Your proposal will include:
1. A rough critical argument / thesis statement.
2. A paragraph-by-paragraph breakdown for each paragraph you should outline the main topic, how you will engage that topic (ie. which quotations or pieces of evidence will you be analyzing) and some rough notes that will form the basis of your analysis.
3. A bibliography that at least includes My Year of Meats and another material of your choosing that I already specified.
4. A short reflection on the challenges you would expect to encounter if you also wrote the final paper that the proposal is for.
