Write an essay in which you will: 1. Explain why literacy and numeracy are considered to be subject-specific. In your explanation, use the following concepts: register genre discourse literacy processes of comprehending texts, e. g. reading, viewing, listening literacy processes of composing texts, e.g. speaking, writing, creating literacy knowledge that is used in the comprehending and composing processes, e.g. text knowledge, grammar knowledge, word knowledge, visual knowledge numeracy capability in terms of the organising elements of numeracy (ACARA) and the 21st Century model of numeracy (Goos, Geiger, Dole, Forgasz & Bennison, 2019) 2. Select one Content Description ( using the Australian Curriculum) in a particular subject area (preferably English or geography) and describe in detail the literacy and numeracy demands that are placed on your students by the Content Description or Content statement. Where the Content Description or Content statement has smaller components, for example, elaborations under the Content Description or bullet points under the Content statement, you can choose one elaboration or bullet point for this assignment. Use the concepts listed above (1.) where appropriate. 3. Using the UNE APA Referencing Guide, compile a Reference List showing the sources cited in your essay and place this list directly after your essay. Your in-text references are counted in your final word count; however, your Reference List is not. Your essay should have an introduction, a body that includes 1. and 2. above, and a conclusion.
