The paper is a critical
reflection that combines your own ministry and mission experience and knowledge
with Bevans models of contextualized theology that we study this term. In the
paper, you will explain which of Bevans model you are most familiar with in
your local church (Practical/ praxis =
Liberal theology) mode. Give examples of the kinds of ministries or mission
approaches youve been involved with (e.g. evangelization, annual outreach
program, unreached people groups etc.). If its more than one model, that is
fine since they are often overlapping. This section may take three to four
pages. Use as much details as you can and avoid generalizations.
In the next section you should
suggest one or two of Bevans models (Anthropological
model and Translation model) that could complement the existing mission
practice in your church. Give reasons why the present ministry model is lacking
or why it is ineffective, and then explain how your suggested model(s) would be
beneficial.
Finally, in your conclusion,
summarize the paper briefly, and then outline some areas that needs more
research before the Gospel can have a significant impact, for example the study
of behaviours or opinions of a specific community.
Since weve not dealt with all
the models, you can obiously not yet decide which one would be the best or
preferable model. However, as we go along, you can compare the practices of
the models with those of your church and take notes of possible implications.
As you do so, you need to allow your imagination to guide you; permit the Holy
Spirit to stretch your mind with new possibilities for your church and your
ministry.
