This information is from Table 2 on page 1110 of the Nonsedation vs. Light Sedation study. The primary outcome of this study was All-cause mortality 90 days after randomization. Look at the highlighted (boxed) information and answer these questions. NOTE: Watching the Introduction Video for the Week Three assignments and the Week Three lecture will help you know how to answer these questions.
1. Explain the details for the mathematical calculation that resulted in the value of 5.4 AND explain specifically what the value of 5.4 means. In other words, interpret the value of 5.4 in relation to this specific outcome of the study. Your answer should include these things:
Explain the details of how the value of 5.4 was calculated.
5.4 what?
What does this mean when I compare the two groups? Which group has the best results (This is where you ask the Which group would I want to be in? question).
2. What does the CI range of -2.2 to12.2 mean? What is your interpretation of this? Your answer should include these things:
A statement about what this means if the study were repeated 100 times
What this range specifically means relative to this study outcome what does this range of results mean for this specific result?
A statement about whether the value of no effect/no difference for this CI range is zero or one AND a statement about whether the CI range included this value.
A statement about what the CI range tells you about the p-value (will the p-value for this result be statistically significant?).
This information is copied from Appendix table S2 on page 5 of the supplement titled Supplementary Appendix for the Nonsedation vs. Light Sedation study. Please look at the highlighted (boxed) line of information and answer the following questions:
1. Is the p-value listed statistically significant? Your answer should state yes or no and then specifically explain why you chose the answer you did.
2. Are the highlighted results clinically significant? Your answer should state yes or no and then specifically explain why you chose the answer you did.
3. Explain the relationship of the 95% CI of (1.3% to 8.7%) to the p-value (.01). In other words, explain how looking at the CI range can provide you with information about whether the p-value will or will not be statistically significant.
Please answer these questions and explain the answer for each one. Each question specifically explain why you chose the answer you did.
Attached files will help answer as well, the charts needed to answer each questions has been screenshotted and attached.
