Write an 800-words argumentative essay on one of the following topics. Note that each of the topics asks you to argue for or against the proposition. You need to argue one side or the other, although you should acknowledge the other side’s position in order to counter any obvious opposition arguments. Keep in mind the particular challenges in writing an argument. Remember that you can develop your essay in any way you wish–-through comparison and contrast, narration, description, definition, and so on (or through any combination of these modes). Choose the method(s) of development that you think will prove most effective in persuading your audience to accept your position. Try to make a broad appeal to your reader, using at least two of the three appeals we discussed in class (logic, emotion, and ethics). Provide a catchy and informative title for your essay. Make your essays more formal from now on (i.e. only use the third-person perspective, and avoid colloquialisms and contractions). You now have the capacity to enlarge your introductory and concluding paragraphs. Double-space.
