this is for ages 4-5 Sensory Play Activity:
I have attached the rest of the assignment I completed for your reference:
Only the first section needs to be completed is (needs to be about 1 page)
Description of previous observations of child(ren) and why you brought these specific OEMs (this should be around a page, and is new to this assignment):
Youll begin the process by observing children at play and then use those observations to plan for which open-ended materials to bring (and connecting the dots along the way, I observed X behavior so I thought I would bring Y). (attaching examples and the materials i will bring)
Materials that I will bring:
rice
egg cartons
shovel
sticks
for clean up paper towels and lysol wipes
Observations:
inability to share this activity will have the students at the sensory box sharing materials
Communication while observing children playing in the classroom it appears many students get frustrated as they either feel the arent being heard, or their language isnt developed to accurately express what they are needed. this activity will give each the opportunity to tell how the materials feel and opening share if the texture of the materials reminds them of anything.
they will have a safe place to explore, make creative creations and share verbally
in many observations i see students who dont like to share in the cleaning up process. this is something i will incorporate into the activity clean up after students are done with the activity
A few of the students are showing signs of sensory issues with smells/textures. this activity will help with textures. rice and sticks have a rough course texture
