Around two-thirds of U.S. states have adopted constitutional amendments protecting victims rights; however, there is no constitutional amendment at the federal level. There is significant controversy among the public as well as professionals within the criminal justice and legal systems regarding whether such constitutional amendments are necessary or just. What is your position on whether constitutional amendments protecting victims rights should be adopted across all states? What do you see as the benefits and/or drawbacks of such laws? If you do support these types of laws, are you in favor of comprehensive rights, such as those in Marsys Law, or do you recommend narrower protections?
