Unit 3 Assignment Expectations: Argument Essay

You will write an argument essay in which you will extend the conversation about your topic, using your research toward some end, whether its making claims, complicating an issue, illustrating a point, or any of the other uses of sources we identify and practice across the unit.

You will also use rhetorical strategies for arguments discussed in class, such as kairos or concession, as well as establishing exigency, considering your audience, appealing to your audience and arguing a particular perspective (we will be going over these this unit).

You should have a thesis statement that is specific, arguable and has tension. You should have strong, original claims that reflect multiple source analysis, and you should have evidence from credible, relevant sources to support those claims.
