This report will require students to critically evaluate risk profile analysis and value analysis of Sainsburys. The report will base on real life cases. Select Sainsburys. Undertake a risk profile analysis of the chosen company over the last 3 years. More specifically, using both accounting and market-based risk measures, estimate and explain the meaning, significance and sources of the key risks facing the company. Furthermore, you will also need to develop a critical analysis of the companys value.
The report must cover the following lines of investigation:
Analysis of the agency problem in the past or likely to happen in future. (discuss the agency problem of Sainsburys.)
Analysis of the business risk of the company. (You can discuss systematic and unsystematic risk in relation to Sainsburys)
Analysis of the financial risk of the company. (You can use financial ratios to analysis Sainsburys financial risk.)
Evaluate the companys value by means of:
a. Stock market valuation
b. Asset-based valuations,
c. Earning-based valuations,
d. Cash-based valuation
For Asset-based valuations calculate only Net asset value (book value). This means that you do not need to calculate Net asset value (net realisable value basis) and Net asset value (replacement cost basis) models .
For Earning-based valuations calculate only Price/Earnings ratio valuation and Dividend valuation model. This means that you do not need to calculate Earnings yield valuation and Dividend yield valuation models.
If you need to calculate ke(cost of equity) you can use CAPM model which is given below. If you use CAPM you can use 5% as a risk premium which is (kM kRF).
