For the individual project, you will engage in project management research methodologies. The project and presentation will be research oriented where each group will conclude with a research report that will ultimately be an enhancement to existing techniques.

You will have to rigorously analyze and critique an existing research paper provided by the instructor. These research work need significant improvements and your research project in this course will attempt to do so in many aspects.
1. Topic:

2. Check work of others: Examine the work of previous project managers and the work already posted online. Make sure that you can make significant new contributions. The order of the authorship depends on the extent of each person’s contributions. Do not re-invent the wheel.
3. Check published literature: You must select at least two published journals to read and critique in details and use them as a starting point to write your project research proposal which includes a summary of existing literature (at least 10-15 references should be cited). NOTE you do NOT have to read them all but should be able to summarize them highlighting their strengths and research question(s). Do not make claims that are not supported by data. 4. Final Report: The final report of your paper must be submitted during the final exam period however you are required to present your work in week 10, 11, 12 (this would be a work in progress as you would still have time to add more in the future). Write well. Make sure your points are clear and are demonstrated with appropriate images. Give many examples and provide case studies. Give steps by step guides. Explain all terms when they are first mentioned and list them also at end of the paper. Put all references at the end of paper. Make sure that the final paper has the following sections:
A. Title page: Choose a title that appropriately describes the paper. Include author’s names with contact information (Cell phone #/ and Email) or other personal information
B. Abstract: The summary should be able to stand for itself and the reader should understand the scope of the paper from it.
C. Introduction: Discuss why this topic is important. For example on the paper in Activity Based Costing, you might mention that managers can understand what to price a service and how the work process contributes to efficiency of operations. You might want to mention how prevalent the use of the topic is. Discuss who the audience of the paper is and why they should read the paper. You would also include your hypothesis, research questions, or Goals of the Project. Make sure at the end of the introduction section; you summarize the outline of the whole paper. For example, The rest of this paper is as follows: In Section 1, we will …. , in Section 2…
D. Related Work, Background and Significance: Review the literature published in this topic (at least 10-15 references which are recent). Also, for this section, give us a bit of background on the organization you will be conducting your research on. What it does, how many people work there, why you think it would be an interesting place to study.
E. Research Method, Design, and Proposed Statistical Analysis (Methods and Procedures): Discuss what attributes you will be focusing on and what framework would be utilized in your research analysis. Include sampling information and data collection methods.
F. Methodology & Results: Sample, Sampling, Data collection, and Data analysis. Discuss the results using some hypothesis testing tools among other charts, graphs,….
G. Conclusions: Conclude the paper summarizing the major contributions and some possible future work.
H. References and links: Give references to literature reviewed and links to images used from the web.
I. Index of terms: Alphabetically list all terms used in the paper and their definitions
