Ethics for Workers and Users
Several philosophical approaches to ethics are presented in Chapter One (Table 1-4). Pick characters from movies/TV or books who you believe would agree with 1) Virtue Ethics, 2) Utilitarian, 3) Fairness, and 4) Common good (you need to discuss all four). Describe the character, including the movie/TV show or book, and explain why you believe that character represents the ethical philosophy of each approach (You may use YouTube video snippets to support conclusions, if you wish, making sure to include the links to the YouTube videos). Also, describe a hypothetical situation in which an action the character would take is not legal, but is ethical and an action that is legal, but not ethical, based on their philosophical approach. Note: Paramedic Ethics for Computer Professionals, the Gartner Field Trip articles, and the Online Guide to Ethics and Moral Philosophy will come in handy for this option.
