In order to fully understand contemporary social justice issues, such as gender inequality, racial disparities in incarceration, and inequitable access to healthcare, it is useful to examine how related social justice issues were addressed in the past. For instance, what efforts were made to advance racial and gender equality during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s? To what degree have those efforts informed how contemporary racial and gender equality issues are perceived and addressed? You will examine how historical social justice issues have influenced the way that contemporary social justice issues are perceived and addressed. a brief description of the contemporary social justice issue that you selected and explain why you would classify it as a social justice issue. Then explain how at least one related historical social justice issue has influenced the way the contemporary issue that you selected is perceived and addressed. Finally, explain what stands out to you about the issue and the degree to which it exists and/or could manifest in a national and global context.
